More Hockey Autograph Books

So I was asked to make a new batch of hockey autograph books for a "Hockey Mom"
who is a busy mom raising 2 adorable Hockey Boys
while running her own business

The Hockey Mommy

I originally made this book for her older boy

Very First Hockey Autograph Book

Her boys are huge fans of the local team here

The Carolina Hurricanes

Her boys have been able to skate with the Canes
so these books are perfect for collecting all those famous signatures!!!

These are the newer, updated books I made for her son & two friends.

Very cute, very fun to make "boy" stuff
I had to really stop my self from adding a flower or a burlap heart!

It was a lot of fun to be asked to make these again!!!

Mod Podge + Goodwill=Pottery Barn Inspired

I saw this post on this absolutely awesome blog that i have been following
called

I don't know Amy personally
But I worship her from afar
She has the best ideas
and she uses
Mod Podge for almost all of them!

She found it on another blog called

Anyway, I love these pears the minute I laid eyes on them
I have always loved to read even as a child
so I was inspired to create something using this look

I found this fugly chair in Goodwill for $.99
I gave it a base coat of off white paint
(did not take a before pic but you can still get an idea of its fugliness)

Using pages from an old hard cover book (also Goodwill) i started randomly mod podging
the snipped up pages all over the chair
There was no method here
I just slapped the pieces on all over the place
overlapping & changing directions
tried to keep it totally random

I sanded the edges with sandpaper
then I inked the edges with an ink pad,
I used a little bit of brown acrylic paint on my finger tip to get the curvy areas

Finished
so professional, the backdrop, right?

Here it is on display on another Goodwill find for $4.oo
Primitive Folk Star Shelf

In a previous life I was a first grade teacher
I still love teaching, though I will probably never go back to the classroom
I thought it all went together well-
and was all "teachery"
primative star shelf/folk art/apples/books/chair

I think I have an ADD problem......squirrel!!!!

Here is what my day was like-

Ritalin Anyone????:

6:00 am-Sky comes in dressed for school, ready to snuggle as my alarm goes off
this was the highlight of my day, my girls RARELY snuggle anymore!
6:15 am-after snuggles w/ my Noops (Sky's nickname) & hitting the snooze button,
i get up dressed & ready for work,
apply make up 1/2 assed(you would not approve Ash)
then change 17 times before i decide on an outfit
6:58-rush downstairs,
write a check for school,
make tea for my travel mug(disney of course)
grab banana & bag for work, off i go

7:29.59-pull into work just in time
8:30-finish testing & tutoring, decide I should head to walmart
8:34-in my car thinking it is a really good idea to check email
8:45-still in school parking lot writing posts to Facebook about American Idol
8:49-drive to Walmart & park car, enter store where i don't really need shit
9:20-leave store with shit i don't really need & drive home

(Shit I Don't Need)

Between the hours of 9:40& 3:30 this is what i did:

get home
change into comfy clothes
make coffee, drink first cup
strip sheets off our bed
put in load of laundry
unload dishwasher
call my dad(his sister just passed away-90 years old)
start making meatballs & sauce for dinner tonight
make bowl of oatmeal for breakfast
eat bowl of said oatmeal
drink second cup of coffee
let dogs out, let dogs in (repeated 3 times over course of several hours)
paint shelf for girls room that i bought at the goodwill 6 months ago
scrub other shelf w/ primitive stars that i also bought at good will 6 months ago
check Facebook & email 17 times......
drive to Cathy's, take Riley with me to let Sage out
almost ram into the mailman who is in our driveway & I dont bother to realize till I am half out of the garage!!!!
attempt drive to Cathys again
drop off old teaching materials while at Cathy's, realize I forgot 2 items(imagine that)!
speak to my HS friend Colleen while I am at Cathy's & watching the dogs play
drive home with Riley
paint little chair that i am planning to mod podge

(chair that I will be modge podging soon, post coming)

go up in attic to look for country/primitive stuff for shelf
download "No Rain" ring tone
said some prayers for some people in need
wonder why I can never get anything done!
start writing this post
put wet laundry into dryer
clean up paint supplies
ask joe to hang shelves for me
do suggestive dance so Joe will hang shelves for me,
(well what i thought was suggestive, others may call spastic & awkward)
eat meatballs that i made for lunch
ask Joe about his Crossfit work out
listen to joe tell me about his Crossfit workout
fantasize about Joe's trainer who he describes in full detail (about all his tight muscles)
-is that wrong??
for
Joe to be describing OR me to be fantasizing????
or both????
write more on this post
take photos for this post
swiffer kitchen floor

Still wonder why i get nothing done........

Now I am ready for a nap & the girls bus will be here in a minute!!!!!

SQUIRREL!

Tell me about your ADD day!

Powder Room Canvas Re-Do

This canvas was purchased a few years ago from Home Goods.
Forgot to take a before pic
but it just wasn't really what I wanted in the powder room.
I wanted to add more pink/feminine in there, wanted a monogram on it but wasn't sure where I was going with this.

So I started by just painting over the canvas with browns, creams & pinks, the messier the better, there was no plan here, I just went with it.
The flourish is an old Jim Holtz-Ideology Mask which I love love love
See where the flourish kind of ends?
I messed up some how so I needed something to cover it so.....

Then I cut out my monogram w/ my cricut on cardstock & chipboard then deco'd them together to give it a little dimension and added the primitive heart (to cover the mistake),
cut from an old paperback.
The quote i stamped with ink, cut the words out & inked some more...
inky & messy is the look I love

The quote says
"together is where your heart sings loudest"
love that
not sure where i got the quote...if you know, let me know!

Added a coat of Mod Podge & it was done
I love the way it turned out!

My Attempt at Subway Art

These are my sisters' Christmas gifts-
We were trying to scale back as much as possible & only give to the kids
But they always do so much for my girls so I wanted to give them something
meaningful & unique

This is my first attemp at my own unique style of
Subway Art

I used favorite song/artists for the quotes.
We all love music so much

This one is George Michael's "waiting for that day"

These started out as canvases that I purchased at Michaels-3 pack for $8.00 i think?
I painted it with acrylic paint.
I dont have any organized way of doing this I just go.......
For this one I used blue & white to get the weathered look
I cut lyrics out with my cricut & stamped some too
Covered it all with a coat of Mod Podge

This one is "all you need it love" by the Beatles!

Now looking back at this, I think I would have added more words to them
But I love the way they turned out
I love the pop of red I used with the green & the blue!

Let me know what you think!

Ahoy Mateys!

You know when you send a baby present,
the older sibling feels left out?
Just finished making this to send to a friend's boy who just became a big brother!
He is 5.
What 5 year old boy doesn't like pirates?

That being said, what 40 something year old woman doesn't think of
Jack Sparrow when she thinks of pirates???

yummmm
.....i digress

This was so easy to make,
I mod podged scrapbook paper on the wooden letter "T"
which I purchased here (just for this reason)
Cut the skull out of the same scrapbook paper
and m/p'd that onto chipboard.
Painted the edges black,
drilled holes
and strung wire through it,
tied some hemp at the top of the wire,
tried to keep it masculine (was so tempted to tie ribbon)

Just noticing the pic is really blurry, had to scan it,
no camera :o( as of yet, but secretly hoping that I get one for my bday in a few days! :o)
